Coconut Oil – Caring for your Skin and Hair in Winter

coconut-oilI would like to share with you my experience using coconut oil for skin and hair. It has worked wonders for me and I think you’ll like it.

Dry skin has been a problem over the last six years when Winter arrives. I tried many body creams, from the cheapest to the most expensive, all without very good results. One day I remembered having tried coconut oil in Brazil many years ago, and decided to try it again. The results were amazing.

Cosmetic coconut oils may contain strange and harmful elements, so for best results, choose an organic, cold pressed cooking oil instead. It is very thin and penetrates the skin deeply, without leaving a greasy appearance.

I usually use it all over the body, especially on the heels. At night I use a tiny portion around my eyes (being careful to not get any inside the eyes).

I haven’t abandoned the industrialized creams, but I use them much less because of the toxic ingredients they have. There are many studies about the most common toxic elements present in the products we use routinely.

I also apply small portions on my hair, especially on the tips. A good moment for doing it is after washing when it is still damp, or any time when you feel it is very dry.
I would suggest that you start with a small jar to try it out, and if you don’t like you can always use it for cooking.

If you do try coconut oil, please share your experience!
